Dr Mark Malone

Mark Malone gained a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom before commencing three years of post-doctoral research. He then worked for Unilever Research for 9 years working in their Product Structuring science base where he worked on a range of consumer products development before moving into their ice cream division.

Since joining Fonterra in 2005 Mark has held a variety of R&D management roles and is currently the General Manager of Global Portfolio & Technology Platforms based at the Fonterra Research & Development Centre in Palmerston North. He has responsibility for the future science and technology programmes with research spanning dairy chemistry, engineering and microstructure through to health, nutrition, consumer science as well as the use of data analytics in R&D and product development.
